Students have to read "Finding Places From the Air" p. 8-9 and "Finding Your Way with a Topographic Map" p. 10-11. On Monday, October 23, 2006, students will cover the sections in class and complete # 1-3 p. 11. A worksheet to be completed on topographic maps will be given in class on Monday or the next class after.

Students have to complete homework assignments for Monday (9-2) and Tuesday (9-1). Assignments involve finding continent, latitude and longitude for 20 cities around the world. Students also have to colour specific countries certain colours and place the cities they found the latitutde and longitude of on the map as well. Work must be neat and organised.

Students should now be thoroughly familiar with the location of the provinces and territories in Canada as well as the capital cities. Students have completed three activities in class and as homework that should be handed in at this point. Two activities dealt with maps of Canada while the third required students to find information located on maps in their textbook (p. 287-290). A good website to review Canada's capitals and provinces is www.ilike2learn.com.

We are now working on Chapter 1: Finding Your Way. Students should have this chapter read in preparation for inclass work.
